Cambridge Healthtech Institute ( CHI ) is seeking a creative go-getter with a minimum of 5 years of conference marketing experience, preferably marketing biotech or pharmaceutical events, for our ASSOCIATE MARKETING MANAGER, Conferences position. The Associate Marketing Manager plans and executes the marketing of CHIs biotech conferences, up to 20 events per year, and related multi-media products and services. This is a mid-level, non-supervisory, associate marketing manager position which reports to the Marketing Director. Conference Marketer duties include:

  • Establish promotional goals and execute promotion plans for biotech conferences
  • Identify target audience, principally biotech and pharmaceutical professionals, and effectively communicate reasons to attend CHIs events
  • Create email marketing campaigns and press releases for each conference
  • Develop brands and foster brand equity
  • Evaluate advertising activities (print, electronic, display, insert and direct mail)
  • Sort and correlate database names for promotions of specific conferences
  • Frequently communicate with key associations, publications, sponsors and exhibitors to explore cooperative marketing opportunities and fulfill barter agreements
  • Build contingency plans for securing audience ratios at CHIs conferences
  • Monitor conference promotion plan ROI and ROR
  • Analyze market reactions to promotional programs for the events
  • Propose and execute follow-up promotional plans to stimulate increased conference registration activity and meet changing market and competitive conditions
  • Travel: up to 3 events per year
Desired Skills and Experience
  • A MINIMUM of 5 years of conference marketing experience, preferably covering biotech or pharmaceutical topics. Ideal candidates will have worked as a marketer or marketing manager at an event company which specializes in biotech or pharmaceutical conferences.
  • Advanced MS Word and Excel skills and significant database experience
  • Strong background in writing and editing market copy
  • Ability to effectively present information, negotiate and work with media partners
  • Experience tracking and completing multiple tasks in a time-sensitive and fast-paced environment
  • Bachelors degree in marketing or related field
  • HTML familiarity
  • Ability to calculate discounts, ROI and ROR
