Parsons Brinckerhoff started more than 125 years ago by designing the first subway in New York City and the first railroad across China, and along the way we have designed many roads, ports, airports, tunnels, and bridges. We are currently seeking Transportation Engineering Technicians III/Construction Inspectors in various locations of Maryland to perform highway engineering technician activities. The position requires some background in sub-professional engineering. Introductory knowledge of elementary engineering methods and techniques; ability to compute simple engineering data; work from simple plans and specifications; make drawings, tracing and accurate notes; understand and follow written and oral instructions; work effectively with others. Work is performed under direct supervision and assignments are usually accompanied by specific instructions.

Job Requirements

Ideal candidate will possess a high school degree or state high school equivalence diploma, along with three years of full-time experience in highway engineering activities. Must have the following licenses, certifications and registrations: Mid-Atlantic Region Technician Certification Program (MARTCP) certifications in Soils & Aggregate Compaction Technician, Concrete Field Technician, and HMA Field Technician; Maryland Department of the Environment’s Green Card; and State Highway Administration Erosion & Sediment Control Certification Card (Yellow Card). N.I.C.E.T certification is not required, but is a plus. Completion of 30 semester credit hours in engineering at an accredited junior college, college or university will be considered for 1 year of the required minimum experience.

Must have the ability to maneuver over terrain and the ability to lift 50 lbs. A valid driver’s license is required, along with a working vehicle for travel to and from project site. Good communication skills, both oral and written is essential for the job. Some local and statewide travel may be required. Flexibility to work various shifts and weekends depending on assignment.

Must have the ability to immediately work in the United States. This position does not provide relocation or housing assistance.
