Reports to the personnel manager. Provides daily coordination and follow-through of the policies and procedures concerning employment of academic and non-academic personnel in the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS). The School is the largest unit in the University, has a membership of over 2000 permanent and temporary faculty, teaching and graduate assistants, part-time lecturers, and post doctoral appointees. This position coordinates and performs various functions related to faculty and staff personnel matters. Initiates, researches, and responds to individual inquiries and large-scale communications. Provides administrative support to the Dean's Office, including the Assistant Dean for Personnel, and three Personnel Managers, by coordinating the administration of programs, projects, and/or processes and by organizing and coordinating the unit operations. Prioritizes work, resolves routine conflicts and issues, and prepares and implements administrative guidelines and procedures for the unit. Provides routine and non-routine information and explanation to employees and department administrators. Schedules appointments, arranges and coordinates design and logistics for workshops and meetings, and completes other work consistent with the broad understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Office.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices. Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office. Requires strong interpersonal communication, and organization skills, the capacity to work as part of a team and provide exemplary service, and must be able to work in a high-pressured, confidential office.
