This position will promote and support the integration of technology into the classroom environment to improve student success. As Broward College pursues becoming a co-affiliate institution for Project Lead the Way (PLTW), the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) education curricular programs used in middle and high schools across the U.S, the ITC's main area of responsibility will be to become a certified Master Trainer to provide training for educators in the South Florida area. The ITF will also be responsible for training, modeling, and assisting faculty and students in incorporating technology into the curriculum and teaching practices.
Master's Degree required with major course work in technology, science or math with at least two semesters of college biology with a lab (required to be a PLTW trainer).
Typically over six years experience as an educator using a variety of educational technologies of which three years includes demonstrated expertise in using state of the art technology and demonstrated success in preparing and delivering workshops or formal presentations.
Florida Teacher's Certificate in technology, math, or science education or related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required to complete training in the three areas/units offered by PLTW in order to become a Master Trainer for pre-service and veteran educators in the South Florida area within two years (contingent upon funding). Possesses working knowledge of K-12 curriculum especially in the core subjects of mathematics, science, and the alignment of technology with teaching best practices in these disciplines. Specific knowledge of current generation and emerging pedagogy/methodology in educational technology such as Smart and Promethean Boards, laptops, iPads, and instructional software and web-based programs. An understanding of networking technology and operating systems. Evidence of leadership and organizational skills such as the ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with faculty, students and staff. Organize, schedule and periodically facilitate training, events, and meetings. In-depth functional knowledge and expertise in area of specialization and general knowledge of related areas in the College Ability to perform complex administrative analysis with only general supervision Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent coordination and communication skills used appropriately influence the decision-making of individuals and groups at all levels in the College Ability to plan and manage own work flow, priorities and results accomplishment Requires the ability to present and disseminate data to various levels Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments i.e. Microsoft Office Products and specialized computer systems Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee and student population
