This position is limited-term with the possibility of becoming permanent, full-time. Sierra Conservation Center is canvassing for staff interested in transferring to the Conservation Camp Program. Due to the often remote locations and operations of the Conservation Camps, the following knowledge, skills and abilities are desirable: independent problem solving, sound decision making; heightened ability to work closely with others in a small unit; the ability to interact effectively with other state agencies and the public; display maturity and professionalism and ability to perform successfully with little or no supervision; custodial experience; computer familiarity; and fire-fighting, life saving knowledge. Other desirable factors include previous experience in camp, emergency fire fighting, community crew experience, volunteer fire fighting varied correctional assignments including transportation, R&R, and knowledge/experience in fire science, forestry, or related fields.

The position requires travel and extended periods away from home while on fire assignments. Candidates may request a tour of camp facilities prior to the interview.
