As a Personal Lines Underwriter Associate, you are accountable for the preliminary underwriting review of all transactions forwarded to the Personal Lines Underwriting Workstation including the preparation of each account and any necessary follow up with producers on missing information. Additional responsibilities include:
• referring all prepared transactions outside of your authority to the Underwriter for their review and final approval
• approving/processing underwriting transactions that are within your underwriting authority
• reviewing & updating large risk files at renewal & presenting to the Underwriter with recommendations
• acting as a liaison between Underwriters / Producers / Customer Service Center when necessary and promptly responding to their questions
Position overview:
This position is designed to assist underwriters in all aspects of underwriting, including underwriting approval within prescribed authority limits. This requires developing an understanding of underwriting strategies and principles as well as product knowledge. Responsibilities of this position also include any preparatory work or research needed to assist with underwriting projects and reports.
Candidate must be able to work in a challenging, fast paced environment with: excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, strong acquired knowledge of systems & workflows, working knowledge of Chubb's automated systems and workstation applications, ability to exercise initiative, decision making and judgment, excellent phone skills, strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to work independently as well as in a team.
