Summary of Department:
The responsibility of the Credit Assistance department is to minimize losses and maintain acceptable levels of delinquency. This is inclusive of foreclosing, repossessing and liquidating collateral as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for counseling members regarding their delinquent accounts, by negotiating solutions that are beneficial to the member and Desert Schools Federal Credit Union. Handles inbound and outbound calls offering solutions based on individual needs with the goal of educating the member on the importance of good credit. Recommends accounts for repossession. Prepares files for bankruptcy and legal proceeding. Assures that the Credit Union is in compliance with all regulations pertaining to collection activity. The representative is responsible for maintaining good customer relations and is expected to interact with both internal and external members in accordance with the organizations quality guidelines. Other duties may be assigned.

Position requires strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work with members professionally to find a solution. Must be able to handle detailed work, and follow up accordingly. Position requires high levels of accuracy; must have strong attention to detail.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Contact Management systems; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Word Processing software.

Other Qualifications:
Working knowledge of regulations (FDCPA) concerning delinquent loan collection preferred. One year of collections background or related experience preferred.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
