Lead a team of Custodial workers and other help as may be temporarily assigned for the overall custodial care and upkeep of the J. Wayne Reitz Union as well as the public areas of the Bookstore/Welcome Center complex, a multipurpose facility open to the public an average of 18 hours per day.
This position leads a team of approximately 6 custodial workers during the 7:00 am to 3:30pm morning shift on a rotating schedule. Due to the necessity of maintaining cleanliness in the building throughout the school year, this position will be required to work Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. Shift hours may vary to accommodate late-night events. Duties include the oversight of all required cleaning tasks, inspections of public areas, direct supervision, training, motivating, and evaluating of custodial team members, maintenance of time keeping records and maintaining supplies inventories. He/she will assist in achieving and maintaining prescribed levels of sanitation, cleanliness, and appearance of all areas throughout the facility. The position requires that the Senior Custodial worker be physically able to perform the required cleaning tasks which include lifting, climbing stairs, operating mechanical and electrically operated power cleaning equipment, and other types of physical exertion required to perform the functions necessary in facilities maintenance procedures.
A criminal background check is required for this position.
Completion of the ninth grade and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience
