The Connected Vehicle Technologies (CVT) department is looking for a highly motivated and experienced

Telematics Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role will focus on the engineering and technical support to plan, design, and develop Connected Services & Telematics related products for Lexus and Toyota.

Reporting to the Telematics Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the CVT Engineering group in leading and managing internal and external partners to sustain/launch our current programs as well as the development of future Connected Services & Telematics programs.

Key Responsibilities

Support department with the design, development and launch of the current 13CY Telematics platform

Plan support for next-generation Telematics platform development

Coordinate and plan upcoming Ops-Trials to ensure quality of future telematics services

Support the development of various training materials and service support collateral

Be the technical liaison with internally facing departments and numerous strategic partners/vendors on a daily basis

Identify and address post-launch issues, and support product improvements / enhancements

Create and review Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and various specifications (Functional, Supplemental, etc) and gain consensus/approval from internal/external groups

Act as the liaison for phone interoperability and compatibility for the dynamic list of phones that are regularly added/deleted to our connected service portfolio

Support and assist with various testing activities, including drive tests, user acceptance testing, installation/removal of apps, account setup/deactivation, Voice Recognition testing, etc.

Organize and maintain accounting information to support budget requirements

Qualifications

Required

BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a technical related discipline or equivalent experience

At least 5 years of Automotive technical or engineering experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Well suited to a fast paced work environment with multiple projects and deadlines

Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail

Enthusiastic self-starter with ability to take a variety of projects from inception to completion with limited supervision

2-3 years with Consumer Electronics (smartphones and applications) and cloud-based system architectures

Preferred

Working knowledge of the Product Development process

Japanese (speaking/writing/reading) skills are highly desired
