Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring the Epic database and associated programming. The occupant of this position works with analysts and experts in Epic systems support to build, configure, deploy, implement, operate, support, and maintain the database of the highly complex, fast-growing Epic environment. The goal of the position is to ensure the reliability, security and performance of numerous environments within the system, including Production, Development, Test, and Training environments. Build systems, secures them, operates them, translates functional requirements into technical ones, participates as an integral member of a highly skilled team, and solves problems.
Essential Functions
--Performs installations, upgrades, patching, and database configurations for Caché and Epic,
and maintains proper documentation throughout the process
--Proactively monitors and troubleshoots any unusual system behavior and performance
--Assists in developing and maintaining the OS, Caché, and Epic security models
--Performs backup, restores, and refreshes of Epic
--Performs print device setup, testing, and troubleshooting
--Maintains system decision, setup, and configuration documentation
--Supports the data flow from Caché installations and Epic environments
--Provides 24x7 support as needed
--Communicates environment activities (downtimes, upgrades, patches, refreshes) to all
relevant parties
--Provides go-live and post go-live support
--Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
--Education must be in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other technical field required
--Three (3) years experience of database experience required
--Some experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and tools in a Unix environment preferred
--Cache DBA Certification in one of the latest two Cache versions preferred
--Understanding of high availability, database failover models, hardware architectures, SAN
administration, scripting, print management required
--Experience with UNIX, LINUX, HP-UX preferred
--Experience with determining and documenting current workflows and designing future
workflows to facilitate support required
--Knowledgeable about broad-based infrastructure
--Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in spoken and written English required
--Significant teaming and collaboration required
--Previous experience in a healthcare environment preferred
--Project management experience preferred
--Experience with EMRx, HIM, NextGen, Epic or other clinical applications preferred
