The Cage Cashier is responsible for exchanging casino chips, coins and tickets for cash and to make change for customers as necessary. Additionally, be responsible for all duties of a Main, Chip, and Marker banker. A Cage Cashier is responsible for producing information on customer credit records via the Casino Management System. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or its equivalency required.
  • Six (6) months of previous cashier or money handling experience is required.
  • Previous banking experience is preferred.
  • Previous clerical/data entry experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of start-up and close-down of cash registers is preferred.
  • Knowledge/operational skills of coin counter, coin wrapping machine and currency counters preferred.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment, including a 10-key adding machine, PC computers, fax machine and photo copier.
  • Good 10-key calculator skills are required.
  • Good math skills are required.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

When on the casino floor, the noise levels increase to loud. Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
  • Continuously bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, bend, lift and push/pull.
  • Continuously carry up to twenty-four (24) pounds, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Occasionally climb heights and reach above shoulder level.
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
