Job Summary: To perform hospital telecommunications functions including processing incoming and outgoing calls, maintaining the physicians' answering service and patient directory, paging, and responding to all Hospital emergency alarms including codes, fire/smoke, burglar, etc. Experience: Computer experience required. Requires typing skills of a minimum of 40 wpm. Customer service/call center experience preferred. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. OSHA: Bloodborne Pathogen Category III Employees in this job description are NEVER expected to have contact with bloodborne pathogens. Familiarization with the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (CFR 1910.1030) is given during orientation and annually Special Skills: Requires typing skills of 40 WPM and computer experience. Ability to read, write, and speak clear and fluent English. Team and customer focused. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods. Ability to handle frequent interruptions, adapt to changes in workload and work schedule, and remain composed during interruptions and changes. Ability to set priorities and solve problems. Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Supervision Received: Administrative and functional supervision from the Senior Operator, Administrative Resource, Telecommunications, and Director, Telecommunications. Supervision Exercised: None Working Conditions: Telecommunications room and patient care areas. Requires constant sitting at work station.
