This position serves as construction manager for assigned capital projects. Responsible for overall safety performance, construction cost and staffing, schedule, construction quality and facilities' performance post-startup.
Plans and executes construction management responsibilities. Leads and manages day-to-day construction matters including safety, cost, schedule, performance, material management, construction, and project team dynamics. Interacts effectively with refinery staff to establish priorities and safe work procedures.
Ensures goal alignment at all levels of construction team maintaining unified focus on project objectives. Encourages total commitment to project goals and continuous improvement. Provides structured forum for communication and interface management across construction project and refinery staff to ensure quality, value, timeliness. Ensures open communication and cooperation among team and stakeholders.
Monitors costs and quality to ensure value and technical performance of project. Identifies and resolves key issues impacting project schedule, cost and quality. Outlines, reviews and manages potential project scope change decisions in accordance with established change management objectives.
Contributes to project reporting activities and provides channel for reporting and raising key issues with project stakeholders and management.
Minimum high school or GED required.
Undergraduate in engineering, construction management, business management or related area of study preferred.
Minimum 15 years' experience in construction management, maintenance management, project engineering or similar in refining or petrochemical industry with demonstrated experience leading construction and/or maintenance projects required.
Experience leading refining or petrochemical construction projects with total installed cost greater than $50MM preferred.
Requires frequent travel and working at project sites and/or engineering contractors' offices for extended periods of time.
Ability to lead teams and to communicate effectively.
