Current NYS RN License required. BSN preferred. Prior Critical Care or ED experience required. BCLS and ACLS required. Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification required within 3 years of hire Duties and Responsibilities:


Our Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists utilize skills, experience and knowledge in assessment, planning, implementation, diagnosis and evaluation of care provided to our patients.This is applied within the nurse-patient relationship to achieve optimal outcomes through critical analysis, problem solving and accurate decision making.

Specialists organize and deliver patient care to the patient and their families in the Cardiovascular suite and recovery areas. This position serves as the consultant, educator, and key resource to patients, families and health care providers. The coordination and management responsibilities of this position are in the pre, intra and post procedure activities in accordance with evidence based practice and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Performs and supervises pre, intra, and post procedure patient care
Prepares room and equipment prior to and after procedures
· Provides clinical and emotional assessment and care throughout patient and family stay
· Provides varying clerical support related to supplies, scheduling, authorization, etc.
2 Participates in service line core measures and on call program
Participates in the on call schedule for acute MI
· Makes recommendations, articulates concerns and issues to perform or improve core measures program
· Keeps informed of new guidelines and results of core measures
3. Administers medications correctly and safely
Correctly identifies medication: action, dosage, side effects and implications for the patient
· Meets standard on medication administration exam
· Demonstrates preparation as needed
· Educates patients and significant others related to drug and food interactions
4. Assures responsibility and accountability for decision making and patient care
Positively adapts to change and is responsive to new ideas
· Practices within the scope of practice as outlined by the American Nurses Association and other regulatory agencies
