Skidmore College is seeking a temporary, full-time career counselor for the 2013-2014 academic year, starting in July 2013. The Career Counselor is responsible for assisting students and alumni with career exploration, self-assessment, resume and cover letter review, personal statement critiques, interviewing preparation, and graduate school planning. Additionally, this career counselor will share information about the Career Development Center's services and programs. The Career Counselor will also provide support in program development and delivery, as needed.
Master's Degree in counseling, education, or a related field
Experience administering career assessments (i.e. MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory)
Familiarity with developing and delivering engaging career programming
Knowledge of ethical (i.e. NCDA), professional (i.e. NACE), and educational (i.e. FERPA) standards related to career counseling
Appreciation for and ability to articulate the benefits of a liberal arts education
Experience with resume and cover letter reviews, personal statement critiques, and ability to navigate online career resource library and platforms (Symplicity preferred)

At the annual salary rate of $41,000 - $45,000 commensurate with experience. The actual salary will be prorated depending upon the number of months scheduled for this temporary position.
