The Bowery Residents’ Committee (BRC) will be hosting several Career Day events in to recruit staff for our newest 200-bed Assessment shelter in Greenpoint Brooklyn.

For the past 40 years, BRC is where people change their lives. We are one of New York City’s largest and most comprehensive social services agencies. We house over 1,500 people daily, and serve nearly 9,000 individuals annually. We help the neediest of New Yorkers overcome the challenges in their life – addiction, physical and mental illness, histories of unemployment, incarceration and homelessness – and empower those we serve to reclaim their dignity, self-confidence and independence. We operate 27 programs throughout New York City, including outreach programs, residential and outpatient treatment programs for mental illness and substance abuse, and permanent and transitional housing. BRC employs nearly 600 full-time and part-time employees.
HOURS: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct supervision to a team of Program Aides. Assist Operations Coordinator with the oversight of departmental tasks and goals. This includes, but is not limited to, record keeping, statistical reports, unit coverage, and client care/crisis intervention. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: H.S. diploma/GED required. B.A. preferred. At least one year supervisory experience preferred. Experience working with homeless, mentally ill, and substance abuse populations preferred. Experience working in residential settings also preferred. Very good writing skills and computer literacy required. First Aid and Fire Safety certification, or ability to pass tests to acquire these credentials, required. Bilingual Spanish or Polish a plus. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.
