Part-time (27.5 hrs/wk for 42 weeks) grant funded position that provides career guidance, planning, and support for increased student retention at Iowa Lakes Community College. This position will provide career-planning services on the Emmetsburg and Estherville campuses and outreach services at the outlying campuses. Travel between campuses required. The future of this position is contingent on continued grant funding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF TIME)
Establish and maintain a career resource center on the campuses.
Establish and maintain a virtual career library.
Assist students in developing career plans when using the career resource center.
Provide career support services including resume preparation, interviewing skills and job & internship search.
Utilize Optimal Resume and promote the use to businesses, faculty and students.
Support student-learning communities for non-traditional students.
Assist with the Noel Levitz interventions for at-risk students.
Provide college survival/transitioning.
Provide advocacy for graduate transitioning.
Plan and promote student job fairs and virtual career services.
Develop presentations for Career Theme topics for in-class and seminar delivery.
Assist with student professional development seminars, including equity issues.
Plan and coordinate High School Career Day, annually.
Assist faculty program coordinators with developing strategies to track graduates through social media.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, staff and the community.
Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
Present oneself in a classroom setting in a manner that is acceptable and consistent with program and College guidelines, policies and practices.
Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators and other contacts.
Read, understand and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written communications.
Possess strong human relations skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities.
Be a creative, energetic and self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and educational media equipment.
Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying and occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%). May be required to travel utilizing personal vehicle.
