GBE is looking for a Carpenter for our Pittsburgh, PA location. This individual under general direction and/or using detailed procedures and/or work instructions will perform simple and routine as well as some non-routine tasks in the area of maintenance and construction. May provide limited guidance and/or on-the-job assistance to lateral and lower level personnel for work on simple/routine or more complex assignments. Work may be evaluated while in progress and upon completion. Duties will be varied.

This individual will also be responsible for:

Performing carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, and doors. Work includes, but limited to, the following:
  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
  • Prepare standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
  • Select materials appropriate and necessary for work.
  • Perform maintenance using oral and/or written instructions.
  • May operate, forklifts, skid loaders, and vehicles required to maintain the facility.
  • May work with other craftsmen in the maintenance of site facilities and equipment.
  • Case work, trim work, finish work, framing, and flooring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and qualified.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of hands on experience.
  • Knowledge in the particular area of carpentry typically acquired through formal apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
