Denver Human Services provides both assistance services and protection and prevention services to Denver’s most vulnerable residents. Assistance programs are provided to eligible Denver residents in financial need and include federal food, cash and medical benefits, as well as child care, child support, energy, rental and burial assistance, all designed to help families and individuals toward financial self-sufficiency. Protection & Prevention services are provided via child, youth and adult protection services, along with community focused programming including veterans’ services, homeless services, and drug awareness campaigns. Job Responsibilities:
The Case Management Supervisor I leads, motivates, manages and supports their team on a day to day basis, while managing departmental workload with exceptional attention to detail in a dead-line oriented environment.

Essential Duties:
Supervises and evaluates the work of employees who interview applicants to obtain information and determine initial and on-going eligibility for public assistance programs.
Encourages and guides team to meet and exceed goals.
Investigates the eligibility for and the accuracy of payments in assistance programs, determines if proper procedures were used, and seeks methods to correct any errors.
Advices and assists staff with issues pertaining to assistance being provided.
Performs quality review of case management coordinators' work to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal guidelines related to public assistance programs as mandated by the federal government and ensures that federal reporting deadlines are met to avoid federal funding and fiscal sanctions.
Prepares and/or directs the preparation of records and reports and ensures that staff members enter and update information into the state and county computer systems.
Reviews, develops, or modifies work plans, methods, and procedures, determines work priorities, and develops work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage. Provides work instruction and assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments and encourages innovation. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness, and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion.
Other related duties as assigned.

This position REQUIRES:
Associates Degree.
Three years of experience at the type and level of a Case Management Coordinator II.
Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement, on a year for year basis.

Highly Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s level degree
At least 2 years of previous and direct Customer Service experience
Professional or volunteer experience working with under-served women and children in crisis

Background Check/Drug Testing: Candidates must pass a criminal background check, 10 year employment verification and education verification. Additional checks such as credit and drug testing may be required.
Probationary Period: The successful candidate will be required to complete a minimum six month probationary period (benefits will be active during this time) prior to attaining Career Status with the City. As part of probation, employees complete a series of internal training classes which may include supervisory training based on the specific role.
