Hiring Salary Range - $2,636.00 - $2,927.00/month*
Responsibilities: This full-time state classified Accounting Technician II position is responsible for supporting all School of Dental Medicine programs and any related clinics in technical accounting aspects such as posting, billing, accounts receivable, collection management, patient registration, Medicaid billing, and third party insurance billing. Specific duties may include: receives and greets patients and offers information concerning clinic practice, policies, procedures and operations; receives cash, checks, and credit card payments from patients and reconciles any discrepancies; records transactions in the clinical computer system and distributes cash receipts; explains the cost for treatments rendered and how and when it is charged and due by the patient; advises patients on financial payment responsibilities and dental insurance policies; informs patients how insurance and/or any third party billing works in conjunction with payment expectations of the clinic; assists in the daily deposit preparation including log sheets, campus cash receipts, bank deposit receipts, and armored car deposit pick up logs; verifies Medicaid eligibility and enters information into the Medicaid Billing program; processes all patient payments received by mail; records and allocates all payments to the corresponding patient account; processes Medicaid payments received electronically from the Department of Health Care & Human Services; files all insurance, Medicaid and 3rd party paper correspondence in the patient accounting office; advises patients, residents, students, faculty and staff concerning patient accounts and resolves patient financial accounting problems; maintains all related files for the payment office; and all other duties or tasks as assigned and/or needed.
- Compensation: The salary offered is usually the minimum listed, however, a salary above the minimum may be offered for some hard to fill positions. Employees hired into these positions are eligible for University benefits.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)
Two years of technical accounting or bookkeeping experience, which included one year of experience with patient registration, collection management, and third-party insurance billing within a medical or dental setting.
College, university, or non-correspondence business school which included eighteen (18) semester credit hours of accounting or bookkeeping may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience but not for the specific experience.
- Experience and knowledge of Governmental or Higher Education accounting procedures, policies, rules and regulations.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Financial systems and/or similar software programs.
- Experience creating electronic tracking and reporting spreadsheets using programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word & Quicken.
- Experience working with students, faculty and staff in a higher education environment.
- Experience using and understanding dental terminology.
