Supports the efforts to improve customer planning, sales execution and financial results of the Northeast Sales Team through insightful and prescriptive analysis of available resources including Nielsen syndicated data, shopper marketing data and industry studies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for analyzing customer specific Nielsen data, retailer specific POS and shopper marketing information to measure trade promotion effectiveness and subsequently provide recommendations for improving customer profitability and top line growth
Utilizes shopper insights and other sources to better understand purchasing patterns, buying habits and brand selection among key consumer segments as identified by retail customers
Works closely with customer team leader by providing analytical support for the following sales related activities:
o On-going sales tracking and evaluation
o Customer business planning
o Evaluating pricing and promotion effectiveness
o New distribution, assortment optimization and space management initiatives
o Monitoring competitive activity
o Demand planning
o Special projects and information requests as they arise
Assists in developing Sargento’s annual category management information budget and makes appropriate recommendations for future resource needs
Develops and maintains category management tools and information while working with category management team, marketing services and the consumer research staff
Facilitates efforts to optimize our agency resources and efforts by clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and expectations for analytical support and services
Works with team leader to identify analytical support needs by initiating processes and disciplines to ensure agency analytical services are proactive and maintained
Trains and develops skill sets of Sargento and agency sales team and analytical services to meet Sargento demands for best in class category management practices
Works with sales and agency counterparts to develop relevant, insight based selling stories
Supports trade management efforts for improved accuracy by providing sales analyses that facilitate optimizing plans, reconciling deductions and validating customer performance
Develops sound customer relationships that provide an opportunity for Sargento to participate in or lead category management reviews for Ahold, Metro New York market, C&S and other key retailers in the Northeast Team

Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university is required.
Four to ten years related required.
Must be able to travel 15 - 20% of time.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to communicate well with others both verbally and in writing. Strong computer skills are necessary for this position including word processing, spreadsheet, Internet, e-mail and presentation software. Prior Nielsen or syndicated data, shopper/loyalty data, and space management experience preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
