DESCRIPTION

The main purpose of this position is to maintain a high quality of service and hospitality for Lakeview Village residents and guests by providing exceptional service at all assigned catering events. This includes setup, service, and tear down of all assigned events.

DUTIES

1.Properly set up and decorate all catering events. This includes, but is not limited to:
a.Table, chair, decor & equipment setup and removal
b.Ability to interpret event orders to meet client needs
c.Proper usage of linens, china, glassware, silverware and smallwares for various types of events
2.Provide excellent service and hospitality at all scheduled catering events. This includes but is not limited to:
a.Ensuring guest satisfaction during event
b.Communicating catering information to fellow staff and guests
c.Anticipating and accommodating any guest needs
3.Knowledge of all catering and beverage menu items well enough to answer questions for guests
4.Knowledge of all possible hazardous conditions or equipment, and responsibility to report all problems when witnessed.
5.Maintain proper personal appearance, uniform and hygiene at all catering events.
6.Participate in all catering, food, beverage and service training programs, as well as regular department meetings.
7.Assist with inventory and proper storage of all catering and beverage equipment and supplies at all times.
8.Communicate respectfully and effectively with Lakeview employees in all divisions, residents and all potential customers, promoting our services and catering opportunities.
9.Willingness to learn all departmental systems, and be able to support all fellow staff and supervisors as needed.
10.Provide discretion to assure that all resident and employee confidentiality rights are protected.
11.Develop and maintain good working relationships with inter-department personnel and all departments within the facility, to assure our program can be utilized effectively to meet the needs of facility and residents.
12.Assure all catering materials, dishes, and work spaces are clean, organized and free of unnecessary supplies before leaving any such area.
13.Responsibly serve alcoholic beverages within the established policies and procedures established by Lakeview Village and the State of Kansas if assigned to do so.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess minimum 1 year of catering, restaurant, or banquet service experience.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, lift, reach, and stand 90% of the day.
  • Must be able to tolerate a noisy, hot, humid environment; as well as cold temperatures from refrigerators and freezers.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance and push food carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to work independently, and show initiative to take care of any situation that arises.
  • Display a kind, courteous attitude, and work in a team-oriented setting with residents, relatives and others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral, and with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be receptive and adaptive to change and able to tolerate frequent interruptions without losing focus.
  • Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing practices, as well as sharing them with the team to enhance work efficiency.
  • As required by the regulations of the Kansas Alcohol Beverage Control, must be 21 years of age or older to perform any alcohol related duties.
