DUTIES

  • Responsible for maximizing catering sales and sustaining long-term sales goals
  • Demonstrate the ability to use proven sales techniques and strategies which result in substantially increased revenue
  • Proven ability to set, track and meet or exceed sales goals
  • Actively sells all catering packages
  • Coordinate details for all private events directly with clients
  • Up-sell Zoo enhancements, food and beverage for all events
  • Work closely with Catering Manager (SSA) on food, beverage and operation of event
  • Detail and distribute BEO's and synopses to all departments for all events in a timely manner
  • Maintain open communication lines with all departments to ensure details for all events are followed through
  • Communicate and keep up-to-date all team members involved with executing private events
  • Respond to clients within 24 hours
  • Meet with clients for site visits and tastings
  • Assist Sales Manager(s) in monitoring and controlling invoicing
  • Attend weekly meetings with Marketing Team and Zoo staff to share details for events
  • Keep up with latest food and event trends
  • Send weekly reports of your weekly progress to Sales Manager(s)
  • Sell, detail and coordinate all birthday party packages
  • Assist Marketing team in coordination and operation of different public and fundraising events throughout the year
  • Act as a team player and provide expertise within the team and with other departmental teams as appropriate
Working Conditions
The regular work schedule will include a variety of weekends, evenings, early mornings, irregular hours and may also include holidays. The work environment is generally comfortable; much work is indoors however the position may require work outdoors with exposure to all seasonal weather conditions. Some local travel may be required.

Physical Requirements
The Private/Corporate Events Associate will perform daily physical effort such as sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and standing for an extended period of time. Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds in order to assist with event setup and arrangements. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in hospitality or tourism management, marketing, non-profit management, public relations, communications or other related business majors.
  • One year of experience in catering sales, up-selling and revenue growth
  • Relevant experience and understanding of planning events
  • Detail-oriented
  • Comfortable juggling numerous tactics simultaneously
  • Excellent communications skills and strong team building and collaboration.
  • Must possess the ability to handle highly confidential information and be able to work a varying work schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word , Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to operate under solid pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written) necessary to communicate diplomatically and effectively with interns, guests, and other staff members, and to provide information requiring courtesy and tact
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and stay organized to ensure timely and accurate work
  • Ability to receive directions and requests from multiple sources and effectively prioritize their work
