In collaboration with Senior Manager of Public Relations ensure that the celebrity engagement strategy is effectively accomplishing organizational objectives as identified in the strategic plan. Manage and develop celebrity relationship strategy in partnership with Development, Founders, the Chief Executive Officer and others who connect with celebrities.
Create an annual celebrity relations plan that will maximize the Best Friends’ celebrity resources against achieving organizational objectives. This plan will include measurable outcomes/deliverables from the celebrity program along with a supporting annual budget.
Work with a cross-divisional team to manage business relationships that relate to celebrity involvement, including possible involvement with large agencies who handle celebrities.
Maintain regular communications with Development to review celebrity relationship strategy, engagement, as well as inform and update appropriate individuals and departments in the organization who have a need to know regarding our celebrity use and strategy.
Provide an annual report that documents measurable outcomes from the celebrity Relations department to include funds raised through celebrity support/involvement, media opportunities (impressions), assets created/developed, events supported, etc.
Prepare individual celebrity action plans for Acclaimed Ambassadors in collaboration with celebrity management. These action plans will identify and memorialize the type of support the celebrity is willing to provide, anticipated time and availability, and other details of how the celebrity would like to support Best Friends’ mission.
Provide each Acclaimed Ambassador with a yearly impact report that identifies the mission impact achieved through their support and involvement.
Along with team members, record in a timely manner pertinent details relating to celebrity interactions/engagement/relationship in our Blackbaud relational data base.
Develop and maintain a data base that captures core celebrity management information to include contact details for the celebrity and celebrity management, type of support provided, impact/outcome of that support, other information relevant to effective celebrity management.
Directly manage an assigned portfolio of celebrity relationships.
When appropriate, function as a handler or host for an Acclaimed Ambassador when they are providing a service or function for Best Friends.
At least five years of experience in public relations with an organization or agency.
Experience managing celebrities in an agency environment.
Experience with and knowledge of principles and practices of relationship management.
Proven supervisory experience managing staff
Strong general management, strategic planning, organizational implementation and administrative skills.
Degree in public relations, marketing or related field.
Background in fund raising, donor relations or related field helpful.
Ability to work independently, yet highly communicative, inclusive, shares information on progress of various projects.
Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle ever-changing plans and situations.
Looking for person who is highly professional, soft spoken yet upbeat and energetic, tactful, diplomatic.
Experience working with high profile individuals a plus.
Work requires much attention to detail, ability to follow up numerous times if necessary and ability to on occasion juggle multiple tasks
Ability to work frequent evenings and weekends to accommodate celebrity schedules, special events, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, excel and power point
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while working
Ability to set at a computer with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion.
Perform bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and other physical movements for the purpose of filing, moving supplies, etc.
