Job Description:
Performs work involving installation, test, configuration, and maintenance of communications systems in a Central Office or Hub for Cox Business systems. Systems involve data
networking elements including voice and data equipment, alternate access, transmission, transport and distribution systems to provide advance services and other high capacity services for residential and commercial business customers.
Job Responsibilities:
Installs, configures, provisions, checks, maintains, and adjusts a wide variety of Headend equipment to provide voice and data communications services, advance services, alternate access through transmission, transport, and distribution.
Verifies, validates, and authenticates the operational performance of data networking equipment for compliance to design specifications and quality of service targets by utilizing appropriate test equipment and craft analysis management platforms.
Responds to alarms or outage notification; analyzes and troubleshoots problems for quick resolution in conjunction with Network Operations Center and/or local SOC; restores service.
Responsible for ensuring installation, documentation, and turn-up of circuits and equipment conforms to engineering standards.
Acts as a primary liaison with other departments, vendors, customers, and interconnection activities to correct error conditions.
Ensures transmission and distribution equipment meet Cox, franchise, and FCC standards.
Implements work orders and coordinates installation, test, and acceptance with field systems technicians to ensure customer acceptance of circuits and services.
Applies engineering standards, calculates link loss, determines coupler values, implements combining and amplification schemes, and documents rack and equipment positioning details.
Minimum Qualifications
HS diploma, GED or relevant work experience; Working knowledge and/or experience with SONET and data networking responsibility is required.
Experience with Cisco ONS including configuration and troubleshooting.
Experience with OSPF including configuration and troubleshooting.
Experience with Cisco switch configuration, including VLANs and troubleshooting.
Must have a good working knowledge of SONET including building T1 and Ethernet circuits.
Must have a good working knowledge of ATM including building T1 and Ethernet circuits.
Must have a basic understanding of VOIP and SIP trunking.
Must have a working knowledge of RFC-2544 testing.
Must have a working knowledge of Fujitsu Shelf, SONET Shelf, Accedian and ADVA
Must have the ability to lift or pull a minimum of up to 50lbs.
Must have valid driver¿s license and meet the minimum driving standard requirements.
Pay grade: S21
