In this position, the Relief Chaplain provides 24-hour a day spiritual service to the Hospital in collaboration with other chaplains and provides spiritual care to patients, families, and Hospital personnel during crisis situations. Also participates in educational opportunities and Spiritual Care department events as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Direct Provision of Spiritual Care
inisters to the religious, spiritual, ethical and emotional needs of patients, families and staff.
Facilitates discussions on end-of-life issues, as appropriate
Serves as a liaison between staff, patients and family members
Provides service and participates in Departmental and Hospital efforts to enhance the St. Vincent Catholic identity and mission.
Supports, initiates and participates in implementation of change process and Quality Improvement initiative
Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements:
representative of the minimum level of knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
Demonstrated ability to function in crisis intervention situations.
Active member of personal faith community
At least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education
Ability to covers routine call shifts as assigned and covers additional call shifts as able
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
Demonstrates ability to function as an active contributing member of an interdisciplinary teeam
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position
