As Chef reporting to the General Manager you will oversee all food production for the hospital and our catering business. We recently renovated the cafe and have a thriving on and off-site catering business.

The ideal candidate has a strong culinary background in catering as well as a background in hotel, casino, full service restaurant or contract management accounts as well as a track record in improving the culinary skills of the kitchen staff. The individual is committed to the success of the team and enjoys playing an active role in the community.

A relocation package is offered to move to Independence, Kansas . This is a small quaint historical town with beautiful homes and a rural community surrounding the city. Independence also has a strong industrial base and a 140 year history including pioneer stories "Little House on the Prairie". Leisure activities include several wonderful golf courses as well as outdoor recreation activities. The Elk city Reservoir, State Park and wildlife area boasts some of the best hiking trails in hiking as well as hunting, fishing, camping, boating swimming and bird watching. This is a great location to raise a family with an award winning public school systems with a recent $45MM investment to construct and renovate a number of schools.

Position Summary:

Responsible for food production in a foodservice operation. May be responsible for one area (i.e., hot foods) or could specialize (i.e., catering). Supervises a staff of hourly associates. May be responsible for food inventory and ordering. May conduct culinary training. Manages the kitchen. Reports to GM or Executive Chef.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Basic Education Requirement - Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree
Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Sodexo will require a background check and may require a drug screen for this position.
