CITGO Refining & Chemicals is seeking an exceptional individual who can provide expertise as a Chemical Engineer II that will support our ongoing processes at the Corpus Christi Refinery. The incumbent at this level should possess knowledge of standard theories, techniques, concepts and practices within the discipline. This position is responsible for applying acquired knowledge to moderately difficult work assignments. Depending on specific assignments, incumbents will conduct feasibility studies, and evaluate and recommend changes to processing conditions and/or plant processing units and associated systems. This position may also be responsible for recommending specifications for processes and processing equipment.

1. Provide process engineering technical guidance to process operations for solving operating problems and optimizing assigned units. 2. Guide plant operations and laboratory analysis o daily basis for better efficiency and compliance with operating plans. 3. Generate ideas for capital improvement projects to enhance units’ operability and profitability. Coordinate and assist in the project feasibility and cost analysis, design and implementation. 4. Develop computer simulations for fractionation columns, heat exchangers, and process units in order to better optimize their operation.
5. Provide documentation of engineering and analytical results with recommendations to management.
6. Provide engineering technical guidance as necessary for the operation and control of such equipment as condensers, absorption towers, furnaces, pumps, fractionators, valves, tanks, reboilers, compressors, pipelines, to effect required chemical physical change. 7. Recommend effective arrangement of unit operations considering process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and physical and health hazards. 8. Apply principles of chemical engineering to investigate environmental events and to determine emissions. 9. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
