Chemical Engineering position in the Alpha Olefins Field Support Engineering Group located at the Cedar Bayou Plant in Baytown, Texas. The following is a summary of the position's job duties:
Will work closely with the daily operation of the Normal Alpha Olefins units and Poly Alpha Olefin Unit to provide technical support for operational issues and engineering related projects.
Initiate and manage MOCs for process and project changes.
Participate in plant process safety management items, such as process hazard analysis (PHA) revalidations and incident investigations.
Assist the operating units with daily troubleshooting of process problems as well as daily process monitoring and optimization activities to improve the efficiency and operation of the units.
Organize and conduct test runs and audits to identify bottlenecks and areas for efficiency improvements.
Participate in unit reliability and continuous improvement teams.
Evaluate economic and engineering feasibility of projects and initiatives.
Manage, support and/or coordinate unit expense projects
Complete design, economic analyses, and other front end engineering for capital projects.
Utilize process simulation software to troubleshoot the units and evaluate designs.
Mentor less experienced engineers and interns and assist with new hire on-boarding.
Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering
Requires at least 2 years (7 years preferably) plant engineering experience in support of a petrochemical manufacturing facility.
Knowledge of Chemical and Refining Industry codes and practices is required.
The applicant should possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills related to process operations.
Applicants should also possess strong leadership and communication skills and be able to interact effectively with other departments such as Operations, Maintenance, I&E, and Plant Management.
The applicant should be a self-starter with strong planning and organizational skills.
Knowledge of alpha olefins and/or poly alpha olefins manufacturing is considered a plus.
