The Chemist Associate reports to the Facility Technical Manager and has responsibility for in-process and post-process Q.C. and data reporting; evaluation of new raw materials and data reporting, and support of all quality systems within the facility.
This individual will be involved in a variety of activities through out the plant. Individual will be involved with multi-disciplinary teams that will involve engineering, operations, Environmental Health & Services, and corporate technical. Investigate and report on both internal and external customer complaints. Assist in both internal and external audits.
In-process and post-process Q.C. and data reporting
Devising/revising methods of Q.C. analysis
Developing/implementing rework formulas
Compilation & communication of Q.C. results (analysis) to customers & retain sample preparation
Assist in product certification
General lab services, calibration, & housekeeping
Responsible for lab in the absence of Technical Manager
Assist in the development and management of ISO procedures and work instructions. Assist in the identification and implementation of manufacturing “best practices.”
Support new product introduction / scale-up and raw material acquisition
Proper storage of products and raw materials
Assist in process design and development
Container labeling regulations
Batch sheet computations
Cost reduction programs
Process improvement programs
Provide technical expertise and direction for Operations Department Personnel
BS/BA Degree in Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
One (1) year of prior experience within H.B. Fuller or professional (exempt), or the chemical industry.
Knowledge of the chemistry involved in the manufacturing of the products at the specific site.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of contacts.
Ability to solve problems independently.
Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of Prism or similar database management systems
Familiarity with regulatory matters: OSHA, NIOSH, RCRA, TOSCA, DOT, etc
