This position is responsible for supporting CARBO Ceramic’s proprietary oilfield chemical release product. The work will include evaluating and modifying chemical formulations to tailor a release profile in the presence of representative reservoir fluids. The Chemist will provide specific insight into evaluation and planning, including run conditions and physical property evaluation using various chemical, physical and instrumental methods.
Preferred experience will include the use of, design and/or modification of physical, chemical and instrumental test methods including titrations, FTIR, HPLC, for example as well as applications testing equipment related to water treatment such as scale build-up and corrosion testing rigs; additive formulation and testing; experience with general laboratory processes and transition through manufacturing; raw material qualification and testing; experience in Technical Service including direct customer interaction and troubleshooting.
Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related field.
3+ years of chemical laboratory experience, including at least one year of experience in oilfield chemical technical service, applications testing or manufacturing.
Knowledge of oilfield chemical specifications, use conditions and analysis. Testing protocols for oilfield additives and methods for determining effectiveness as well as underlying scientific principles
Skilled in the use of laboratory synthesis and analytical equipment, particularly as related to oilfield chemical development and testing.
Experience with basic statistical methods
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and proven attention to detail. Must be able to work effectively and communicate results with personnel at all levels. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment adapting to changes quickly
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
