Commercial Insurance (CI) is currently searching for a Chemist to join the Loss Prevention team. In this position, you will follow standard practices, procedures, and Quality Control (QC) protocols, perform routine analyses in 1+ specialty (ies). Additionally, you will work with other chemists using a wide variety of instrumentation and analytical methods, assist senior chemists in performing new or more complicated analyses. You will calculate airborne concentrations of workplace contaminants, produce standard reports for customers to use in evaluating exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, and with guidance from QC Coordinator, prepare/modify existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to accurately reflect laboratory workflow.

Participate in the validation and development of new methods which meet the quality control guidelines (as defined in Quality Control Manual)


Effectively prioritizes and balances work to meet customer needs and unit's goals.

Seek ways to improve work processes to gain efficiency and reduce costs.

Meet internal quality control procedures as required by AIHA and ISO in assigned laboratory areas.

Recognize atypical data and applies judgment to data interpretation and troubleshooting of analytical procedures.

Work with Quality Control Coordinator or peers in developing and maintaining lab Quality Control Program.

Work collaboratively with other lab staff for the success of the laboratory.

BS Chemistry and 1-3 years' relevant experience.

Knowledge of at least one analytical instrument such as GC, ICP, etc.

Excellent computer skills are desirable.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently under strict guidelines.
