Please note: This position will be permanently located in our Athens, Ohio location after an initial 6-9 months of temporary work in our California location.
The Chemist is responsible for producing and maintaining Rare Reagent inventories for downstream manufacturing, finished good catalog items, and special orders in accordance with Quality System Regulations.

  • Performs Protein A purifications, cell culture, and conjugations
  • Supports the development of processes for new antibody and conjugation procedures
  • Supports process improvement and product development activities for new and existing products with a focus on improving yields and reducing cost
  • Analyzes and summarizes data
  • Recognizes technical problems in non-routine tasks and solves them with direction
  • Performs preventative maintenance and equipment calibrations
  • Creates and maintains quality procedures for new and existing products, processes and equipment. Additional duties as assigned.
B.S. degree required

Familiarity with current GMP and ISO regulations and comfort working in a highly structured, documented environment

Technically competent in the production, testing, and troubleshooting activities relating to reagents

Ability to formulate complex reagents and perform the associated testing to determine compliance to specifications

Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, organizational skills, flexibility, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills

Understanding of bioprocessing techniques and principles

Experience with microtiter based assays (ELISA); microplate readers/software, chromatography, and electrophoresis are critical to the position

Familiarity with a wide range of laboratory equipment, mechanical aptitude, and experience with cell culture is desired for the position

Ability to use a computer, manipulate a keyboard, and handle laboratory equipment is essential to this position

Ability to visually monitor testing procedures and results for Quality Standards

Equipment maintenance requires ability to maneuver throughout both laboratory and office environments and to lift up to 45 pounds
