The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) will oversee a 10-person team responsible for best-in-class systems in finance, and systems and strategies in human resources and information technology. The CAO will serve as a senior member of the National Leadership Team. The CAO will be responsible for the organization’s fiscal health and compliance with all relevant regulations. S/he will ensure that the organization has the internal processes, systems, talent, and information the organization needs to reach our ambitious growth targets.

At our rapid pace of growth, the CAO will partner with the President to create an adaptable, responsive long term vision for our structure and systems, will have a track record managing and developing staff, and will not shy away from new challenges. The CAO will support the CEO in communicating with the Board of Directors. This role reports to the President.

Financial Management and Oversight
  • Ensure that the organization’s financial systems, budgets and management reporting processes are built and managed to support the organization’s growth and our theory of change
  • Supervise the VP, Finance and Administration in overseeing business policies and accounting practices and ensuring compliance with relevant legal codes
  • Support the VP, Finance and Administration in leading organizational budgeting process and other relevant financial planning processes
  • Review and analyze financial reports and provide relevant financial information to organizational leadership in a manner that enhances sound financial decision making and allocation of resources across the organization
  • Monitor and report on key financial performance measures
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations

Human Resources
  • Ensure that Education Pioneers has the quantity and quality of talent required for optimal functioning of the organization.
  • Supervise the VP, Human Assets to ensure that the Human Assets strategy, programs, policies and practices align with and support organizational priorities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations

Information Systems and Technology
  • Ensure the creation of a long term information systems strategy and staffing plan
  • Ensure systems and processes deliver relevant, accurate, and cogent management information necessary to facilitate informed, timely decision-making

Organization-wide operations
  • Oversee administrative functions of all Education Pioneers offices nationwide to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Building on current performance management practices and measures, ensure the organization operates both efficiently and effectively to achieve its annual and longer term goals

Desired Qualifications:
  • 10-15 years of management experience in highly regarded, fast-paced and growing organizations, including extensive experience scaling an organization.
  • Track record of exceeding goals in prior endeavors.
  • Executive level experience in financial management, including management of experienced staff.
  • Experience overseeing an information systems/technology function, preferably cloud-based
  • Demonstrated commitment to organizational development/talent development in prior roles and ability to link talent strategy to overall business strategy.
  • Seasoned problem solver with the ability to think laterally, synthesize complexity, make informed decisions in ambiguous, uncertain situations and develop strategic alternatives that accurately identify possible outcomes and risks.
  • Demonstrable experience in creating and driving analytic frameworks and project plans necessary for planning and leading organization-wide adoption of new concepts and systems in a highly entrepreneurial environment.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people, processes and systems.
  • Prior experience communicating with/supporting a Board of Directors and/or experience serving on a board preferred.
