The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) oversees the corporate compliance program and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The CCO is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining an effective program to assure compliance regarding: federal and state regulations including HIPAA, Medicaid, DOI, DOH, OIG regulations, corporate ethics and code of conduct. The CCO develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. The CCO will periodically revise the compliance program in light of changes in the needs of the organization, and in the law and policies and procedures of government and private payer health plans. The CCO will work diligently to foster a culture and climate of sensitivity to compliant behavior within the organization while Identifying appropriate resources necessary to manage the compliance department and compliance programs and establishes a budget to support such resources.
The Chief Compliance Officer reports to the General Counsel and will make reports to the company’s Risk Governance Council (RGC), and quarterly to the Risk and Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors, President and CEO and Executive Team regarding the status of the company’s compliance, progress maturing the company’s ability to assure compliance, and providing guidance on matters related to compliance.
Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.
Minimum ten years experience working with laws, rules and regulations in industry, private law practice or in government to include working with Medicare laws, rules and regulations in industry, private law practice or in government.
Minimum five years management/leadership experience working with a team of people.
Proven ability and experience managing day-to-day operations of a compliance program.
Demonstrated ability to work with legal and other corporate departments to ascertain, publish, explain and communicate all laws, rules and regulations which apply to the company.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute an annual compliance based audit plan, policies, and procedures.
Organizational skills necessary to gain all personnel's compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations including policy development, formation and promulgation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills for company-wide communication, and training.
Proven examples of displaying the IH values: Passion, Caring, Collaborative, Respectful and Accountable.
Maintains confidentiality and uses only the minimum amount of protected health information (PHI) necessary to accomplish job related responsibilities.
