The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for providing vision and leadership for developing, managing and implementing information technology initiatives. The Chief Information Officer directs the planning and implementation of the organizational Information Technology (IT) systems in support of operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality and development. This individual is responsible for the design, modification, implementation, and evaluation of information and information technology strategies for The HSC Health Care System and its entities. The CIO must establish and maintain a highly effectively close working relationships with the Executive Management Team and all professional staff in a matrix organization. The CIO will be responsible for the general direction of 1 staff member and oversight of the IT vendor contract. The number of internal staff could be higher as vended resources are brought back in house. Required Experience: 10-15 years of experience in Healthcare IT, with exposure to multiple IT functions, including development, infrastructure, PMO and operational support in various enterprise environments. Five (5) or more years of leadership experience in an IT organization managing a team of IT professionals. Previous CIO experience in a Healthcare environment is preferred and experience interfacing with executive level management. A strong understanding of information technology software and systems, with substantial exposure to hardware platforms, enterprise software applications and outsourced systems, business recovery, knowledge management, and intra-company communication tools. Experience with online, mobile, social and interactive strategies is highly desired. Results-oriented, inclusive management style, with the leadership skills needed to lead by example, empower, and motivate staff within an entrepreneurial, customer service oriented, matrix reporting environment. Experience with systems design and development from identification of business requirements and analysis through day-to-day management. Proven track record of success related to IT planning, organization and development coupled with a demonstrated knowledge of the industry and its operations. Ability to manage multiple tasks and high volume workload. Strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. Must have strong business and personal integrity with ethical high standards and will be required to ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information. Able to work extended hours, frequently in excess of 40 hours per week. Occasional travel required. Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, and or a related field or equivalent skills and abilities. Master’s degree/MBA highly desirable. Will also consider degrees in fields such as business operations, consulting or accounting/finance.
