Advertised Summary Job Description
The Incumbent will be responsible for tissue processing, embedding and microsectioning of paraffin blocks and coverslipping. Performing manual special and immunohistochemical stains. Prepares tissue for specialized studies. Performs routine H&E staining. Analyzes, resolves and trouble-shoots various day to day histology tasks as needed. Assists in setting up, evaluating and trouble-shooting new techniques. Maintenance of laboratory equipment. Carry out and maintain QA/QI procedures as per policy and procedures. Maintain statistical records and other related laboratory records. Prepare various chemical solutions and reagents. Other duties as assigned. The Candidiate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test and background check prior to a final offer of employment being made.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Requires a master's degree and at least one year experience, or a bachelor's degree and at least three years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Must have or be eligible for New York State Dept of Education license for Clinical Technologist/Technician or Certified Histological Technician. Must have microtomy skills. Must have excellent communication skills.
