DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:
The Bridges Child Development Specialist is responsible for many of the parent engagement services & activities at the Bridges; specifically ASQ-3 screens and parent / child activities (including the ASQ3-focused P/C activities). S/he will take the lead in the recruitment & enrollment of parents for the Incredible Years parenting education component. S/he will encourage parents to become immersed in Bridges participation as well as encourage the 'continued engagement' of immersed parents. The goal is to recruit, retain and immerse parents of children 0-8 in an array of parental support activities so to improve child well-being and to create positive and lasting change for children and families in our targeted neighborhoods.

DUTIES

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop supportive relationships with the parents of children 0-8 living in the targeted neighborhood.
  • Introduce and engage parents in the ASQ3 screening tool and parent/child activities that address early childhood development milestones (including the ASQ3-focused P/C activities).
  • Take a lead role in the recruitment & enrollment of parents for the Incredible Years parenting education component.
  • Encourage parents to become immersed in Bridges participation as well as encourage the 'continued engagement' of immersed parents. The goal is to recruit, retain and immerse parents of children 0-8.
  • Utilize Triple P level 2 model with parents and caregivers, to support the capacity goals of the site.
  • Actively participate in outreach efforts to promote the Bridges parental support programming and activities.
  • Foster "parent readiness" for parent support services.
  • Support the Triple P Primary Care services at Bridges.
  • Maintain parent-friendly materials related to positive parenting at the Family Resource Center located at Bridges.
  • Review results of screening and assessments, and make appropriate referrals if needed.
  • Actively participate in required training within the specified timeframe.
  • Participate in all relevant meetings related to function, or as directed by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field of Social Services; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Min 3 yrs. experience in related field
  • Training certification in Touch Points required
  • Flexible in work hours including some evenings and some Saturdays
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) required for: Lake Worth, Belle Glade
  • Possess effective computer skills & communication skills with a focus on customer service
  • Training in Triple P strongly recommended
  • Training certification in Solution Focused Training preferred
