An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.

First level in a series of child support jobs. Positions within this series assure children receive financial and medical support from their parents by locating parents, establishing paternity and support obligations, and enforcing those obligations.

Exercises no direct supervision.
Receives direct supervision from Child Support Manager.
Manage a caseload of child support cases.
Receive referrals and cases for child support services and determine appropriate actions to secure child support such as enforcement of existing order, initiation of support action, modification of orders, or establishment of paternity.
Locate parents and their assets using available information.
Initiate actions to establish paternity, child support orders, and income withholding orders under guidelines set by State/County.
Analyze cases to determine appropriate actions.
Perform legal and court research in judicial systems, state databases, and in collaboration with other jurisdictions.
Document contacts, correspondence, and record all actions taken for case in child support computer system.
Conduct interviews with custodial and non-custodial parents to obtain sensitive information.
Examine and evaluate legal and other public records.
Assist clients in completion of necessary paperwork.
Advise clients and absent parents of legal procedures to establish paternity and obtain child support.
Interview clients and alleged parents to determine identity and location of absent parent, legal history, and/or to establish paternity.
Inform applicants of case progress upon request.
Respond to phone calls from public regarding court orders, complaint questions, etc.
Attend child support specific training.
Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to interpret and present procedures, reports, and other information, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to read and understand basic legal documents such as orders, judgments, and liens on property.
Excellent interpersonal and public speaking communication skills.
Ability to work with and deescalate disruptive or unruly clients.
Colorado child support statutes, procedures, rules and regulations, and the court system.
Basic computer literacy.
Assist clients, co-workers, or other agencies with questions regarding services available.
Maintain confidentiality where needed regarding information from a case.
Communicate timely and effectively with all parties involved in case.
Enter and retrieve data from a numerous complex computer systems.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, State Administrative Process Action certification (APA).
One year of experience in a legal, collections, or Human Services setting with extensive public contact.
Standard Office Environment.
