Under minimum supervision, perform specialized clerical work relating to the intake, distribution and processing of child support payments and paperwork. Work directly with the judiciary, law offices, Department of Revenue and the public to ensure documents have been timely filed and meet the guidelines established by the Florida Statutes. May attend hearings which are conducted in a courtroom environment.

Examples of Duties (Essential Functions):
Perform any combination of the following duties according to specific assigned area of responsibility:

Research records for information related to child support correspondence, pleadings and payments for processing. Provide customer service in person or by telephone by answering inquiries. Provide assistance to staff in the servicing of customers requesting technical and non-technical information.

Check, analyze, verify and classify or alphabetize materials according to departmental policies.

Process support payments in the Child Support System. Perform on-line docketing and/or post entries to update case information on various departmental records.

Conduct research of individual child support and alimony cases for information relating to statements of accounts and preparation of reports involving tabulation of posted data and mathematical calculations. Provide direction to the public where to obtain court related form(s).

Research records to provide information to professionals and the general public. Prepare Income Deduction Orders for signatures by Judges. Prepare and issue Affidavits, Notices of Delinquency and Certificates of Delinquency.

Update the system with various affidavits, credit/debit adjustments, letters and memos. Process motions for contempt and notices of hearings; distribute to appropriate agencies.

Perform other duties as required.

Typical Qualifications and Minimum Qualifications:
Must have graduated from high school or possess an accredited equivalency diploma. Higher education in clerical or legal record keeping, or legal office preferred. Three years of Child Support experience or experience with a local government entity. Legal or similar work preferred. A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Type at a prescribed speed of 30 cwpm preferred.

Basic skills testing such as typing, spelling, grammar and math may be required for this position.

No supervisory responsibility.

A valid drivers license is required.

Supplemental Information and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the Florida Statutes, rules of Child Support Procedure and department rules and regulations. Knowledge of numerous codes, definitions and legal terminology pertinent to Child Support filings.

Ability to understand and interpret organizational policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Ability to understand and carry out complex written and oral instructions.

Ability to meet the public and deal effectively with their questions or problems. Ability to work in a fast paced, automated environment with many interruptions.

Ability to calculate interest on judgments and to perform mathematical calculations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees and officials in other offices or departments.

Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain complex records and files.

Ability to use a Personal Computer (PC) and related software. Computer entries must be accurate and up-to-date as information is reported to other governmental agencies. Ability to interpret rules and statutes as they pertain to Child Support filings.

Ability to work with confidential and/or sensitive documents and comply with state and federal legal restrictions and legal advice restrictions for the Clerk & Comptroller's office.

Ability to work within deadline constraints and workload surges. Ability to work in a fast-paced, automated environment with interruptions.

Position may require sitting for long periods of time while concentrating on repetitious or complex tasks.

Position and duty location may vary between East and West side of the county based on the workload.

Current employees may receive preference.
