Position SummaryThe Sales Engineer will utilize technical knowledge and sales skills in a cross functional role, working with our customers to interpret, design, convey and configure network solutions. This position is responsible for auditing, building, configuring and installing enterprise network hardware equipment to meet external customer orders in a time sensitive environment in conjunction with the Associate Cisco Hardware Technician. This person will primarily be responsible for configuring, testing and troubleshooting equipment and installing software, modules, boards and memory per customer specification in order to meet department goals. This person will also serve as a primary technical resource for the End User/Brokers Sales Teams and be a point of contact for customers. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and the Cisco Sales Manager/Broker. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Sales EngineerProvide technical sales support, expertise and credibility for end user sales/brokersDevelop solution materials for customers based on their technical and business requirements, which may include product recommendations, pricing, cost-benefits analysis, and scope of workAct as a prime point of contact for customers during the pre-sales phasesCollaborate with sales/broker team members to develop solutions for customers and to respond to customer objectionsResearch and deliver presentations regarding Cisco technologiesOffer input on how to improve the effectiveness of cross-functional role, interaction and communications between internal departmentsProviding advanced presales support for networking opportunitiesParticipating in customer calls with Sales RepsTranslating complex business requirements into Network solutionsDeveloping overall Network solutions including high-level design, statement of work, and configuration materialsAssist Sales Reps with presenting "Value Propositions" or solutions to customer when required.Create training documents for the internal sales department Cisco TechnicianConfigure and prepare equipment per customer specification.Install software, modules, boards and memory per customer specification.Check functionality of newly installed parts to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions. Test and troubleshoot to identify problems.Ensure all parts that originally allocated to work orders are sent. Obtain approval from Sales Representatives for all part re-allocations.Schedule system orders and communicate scheduling conflicts to the Vice President of Operations and Sales Managers to ensure timely order prioritization.Ensure all products meet WDPI's Quality Standards. Conduct final quality assurance on all orders including painting and cleaning equipment prior to shipping. Conduct new hire technical training for technicians and sales representatives. Provide technical consulting in the pre-sales process to support the Sales team. Communicate potential customer upgrades if appropriate.Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients. Provide technical assistance/troubleshooting to internal and external clients.Process Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) to meet department objectives.Provide input and feedback on department process and procedure improvements.Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with WDPI's Safety Standards.Attend team/company meetings and trainings. Essential Qualifications: Associates Degree in Computers, Networking, Electronics or a related field. Or, equivalent work experience.CompTIA A+ Certification.Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.2+ years experience working with the following Cisco hardware: 6500, 7200VXR, 2000 series and up.Two-plus years' experience with network technologies in positions related to sales support, customer service support, and technical solutions support (pre sales)Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.Excellent written skills and the ability to do some administrative work related to documentation of opportunities/meeting follow up (RFQ/RFI/RFP)Ability to understand the client's business objectives and technical needsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.Strong attention to details and organizational skills.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/orders independently with precise detail and follow-through. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook Excel. Ability to enter data into an ERP system. Desired Qualifications: Networking Industry Certification Preferred (CCNP, CCDA, CCDP) Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) training.Experience working with networking enterprise technology solutions.Microsoft Visio working knowledge.Completion of vendor technical/sales training certification in relevant areas of technologyWorking knowledge of Cisco Architectures including Collaboration, Borderless Networks and Data Center Physical Job Requirements: Ability to reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, bend, twist and crouch to inspect test equipment.Ability to lift 40 lbs. frequently to lift equipment.Ability to read and comprehend work-related information.Ability to take work direction.Work Environment: Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week schedule during the hours of Monday-Friday 8:00 6:30 pm. Ability to meet customer coverage as required by territory/accounts time zone differences.Ability to work in an ambient warehouse environment approximately half of each day.Ability to work productively with frequent distractions/interruptions.Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented workplace.Noise level: moderate. Occasionally loud.
