Under general supervision, to perform a variety of manual tasks involved in maintenance, repair, and custodial work at the Civic Center; to maintain lighting and sound systems; and to perform set-ups and take-downs for events.
Examples of Duties:
Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment needed for events planned at the Civic Center.
Maintain and operate lighting and sound systems; notifies Facility Maintenance of heating and cooling problems.
Perform general custodial work in cleaning the building including floors, concession stands, and kitchen areas.
Assist outside caterers moving in for events.
Change light fixtures; perform minor plumbing, repairs, and painting.
Work directly with Civic Center patrons in taking care of event needs and any problems that may arise.
Facilitate customers in the preparation for events including decorating and setting up of special events; ensure safety, good customer service, and preservation of the building at all times.
Prepare refreshment set-ups as required.
Assist with inventory of equipment and supplies and track depletion of supplies used during events.
Monitor the events to ensure success.
Principles, practices, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of general maintenance work.
General carpentry, electrical, and routine plumbing work.
Learn to operate lighting and sound equipment.
Use and care for a variety of tools and equipment used in building maintenance and custodial work including high speed buffer, floor scrubber, hydraulic lift ladder, vacuum, carpet cleaning machine, dishwasher.
Operate modern office equipment and radio.
Ability to :

Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
One year of general maintenance and /or custodial experience.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
License or Certificate:
A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
Special Requirements :
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, and lift 50 lbs.; exposure to noise, outdoors, vibration, chemicals, and electrical hazards.
