Under direction, to perform a variety of supervisory and manual building maintenance, repair, security, and custodial work at the Civic Center. Schedules and assigns tasks and participates in the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of the facility. Exercises direct supervision over maintenance staff.
Examples of Duties:
Supervise and evaluate Civic Center Attendants.
Schedule Civic Center Attendants.
Assign tasks to Civic Center Attendants; follow up on assignments.
Manage event set-ups for activities planned at the Civic Center to include setting up tables, chairs, staging, and booths.
Oversee the custodial work; ensure cleanliness of facility including floors, carpet, windows, and storage areas.
Function as the primary facility on-duty representative during night and weekend events.
Participate in event set-ups, janitorial work, and general maintenance of facility.
Research data for budget purposes; purchasing of supplies in area of responsibility; and, maintain computerized records for equipment and supply inventory.
Conduct training and safety meetings as required.
Maintain and operate the light and sound systems.
Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working condition.
Responsible for changing light fixtures as needed; performing minor plumbing, repairs, and painting.
Computers, sound and lighting equipment.
Principles, practices, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of general maintenance work.
Supervision and training practices.
General carpentry, electrical, and routine plumbing work.
Fire regulations and safety rules established for the Civic Center.
Operate lighting and sound equipment.
Use and care for tools and equipment for building maintenance and custodial work including high speed buffer, floor scrubber, hydraulic lift ladder, vacuum, carpet cleaning machine, dishwasher, and electric tools.
Operate office equipment, a personal computer using MS-Office including Outlook, Word and Excel, and a two-way radio.
Ability to :
Coordinate the setting up and taking down of equipment for events scheduled at the Civic Center.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Three years of supervisory experience; general maintenance and /or custodial experience with at least one year at the supervisory level.
A High school diploma or GED is required. Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. Completion of an Associate's degree in Industrial Technology or a related filed is preferred.
License or Certificate:
A valid Texas Driver’s license is required.
Special Requirements :
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to noise, outdoors, vibration, chemicals, and electrical hazards.
Available for evening and week-end work is required.
