The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets.
This position is principally related to the generation of As-Built Drawings for the USACE’s Maywood, NJ, Fusrap (Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program) Site.
The candidate will be responsible to review existing field notes and sketches; interpret existing drawing mark-ups; and generate approximately 100 As-Built Drawings for the remedial history of 24 property parcels at the Maywood Superfund Site. This will require a civil engineer with CADD and civil survey-experience to produce the As-Built drawings using USACE red-line format.
Considering the deadline and budget for completion of the As-Built Drawings, the Project cannot afford a long learning curve. Therefore, extra consideration will be given to candidates who are already familiar with the Maywood Project and have unique knowledge gained from past work supporting the Maywood Project, including the following:
Candidate must be capable of spending a minimum of one week per month at the Maywood, NJ jobsite.
- Familiarization with field records at Maywood
- Familiarity with the Project Specifications and Drawings
- MARSIM procedure and Final Status Survey Drawings/Design
- An understanding of Shaw’s remedial construction history on a complex, 24-property project site having multiple, sequenced phases.
In addition, the successful candidate will assist our Senior Engineering Staff in a wide range of civil engineering and construction associated with transportation, infrastructure, power and/or industrial projects. Candidate must be experienced developing civil specifications, construction bid documents, producing engineering drawings, and directing draftsmen and designers.
This position requires a Bachelors Degree in CIVIL ENGINEERING or equivalent and three to five years civil engineering and design experience. Candidates must demonstrate fundamental civil technical skills for office and field duties; the ability to plan his/her work, work independently and multi-task; perform as a team member; have strong written and verbal communications skills; and the flexibility to work in both the office and field environments.
In addition, the candidate must be capable of performing earthwork quantity analysis; have strong survey skills; be familiar with the terms and techniques related to soil/site remediation and sampling methods; the Policies and Procedures of USACE Projects; and be able to generate and revise drawings in an Autocad Format.
