Claims Assistant 1


We have an opening in our San Francisco office for a Claims Assistant 1. The Claims Assistant 1 assists Claims Professionals with the management of workers compensation claims.

·Assist with preparation and submission of mandatory state reports and notifications.
·Collect pertinent claim information from medical providers including medical records, work abilities, and appointment information.
·Prepare claim files for referral to outside parties such as nurse case managers, vocational counselors, med-legal examiners, and attorneys.
·Secure past claim activity through ISO reports and seek prior claim information from past carriers.
·Prepare and send correspondence to various recipients at the direction of the Claim Professional.
·Document file notes with pertinent information in a clear, easily understood manner.
·Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Company standards, training, and supervisory direction.
·Foster a positive and close working relationship with other Company staff, including medical management, special investigations, legal, nurse case management, the call center, client services, marketing, and underwriting.
·Education/Experience: An Associate’s degree (A.A.) from an accredited college/technical school is preferred or at least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
·Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, procedural manuals, claim notes, and claim data fields. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
·Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
·Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
·Computer Skills: Be proficient in Microsoft word processing and spreadsheet software as well as on applicable databases, systems, and vendor software programs.
