Develops, formats, and distributes training programs appropriate to assigned function i.e., technical claim training, unit-specific training, career development, newly developed systems and technology, etc.

Conducts training programs and presents information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, lectures, and computer-based training.

Selects or develops teaching aids such as lesson plans, training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, practical exercises and reference works.

Develops performance standards and assessment tools for training modules/tools.

Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of training programs, including conducting cost/benefits analyses.

Identifies, recommends, and implements revisions to established training modules, curriculum, and methods as needed to improve effectiveness and content accuracy.

Formulates training outlines, and develops and publishes training schedules for assigned locations.

Selects or develops testing and evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training.

Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training. Participates in needs analysis studies to determine training needs and develop training plans.

Remains current on developments in training and instructional methodologies including technology enhancements.

Attends periodic seminars, forums, and meetings to ensure currency of education knowledge.

Remains current on developments in claim handling.

May periodically participate in claim functions specific to assigned area(s) of specialization.

May monitor, evaluate and record training activities and employee performance in training programs.

Audits skills inventory for future training needs.

May coordinate various logistics for training classes, including reserving rooms and/or equipment, making travel arrangements and accommodations, preparing and distributing communications, etc.

May be required to order and set up various training class materials and supplies.

Additional responsibilities may include the following:
Establishes, implements and conducts new employee training, including mandated training as well as general training in office operations, corporate systems, employment procedures, etc.

Researches, develops, schedules, and conducts mandated and/or jurisdictional training to assist in the development of claim knowledge, expertise, and licensing continuing education crediting i.e., State Fair Claims Practices acts, etc.

Acts as a resource in coordinating corporately-approved annually mandated jurisdictional training and training mandated for new employees.

Coordinates, assists with, and conducts local corporately-developed training sessions, as needed.

Monitors, tracks, and coordinates licensing continuing education credits for assigned claim center.

Provides local resource for technology-related training and/or support i.e., personal computer (PC) training, systems training, software pilots and/or implementations, etc.

Provides assistance to local claim management in recruiting and interviewing candidates as time allows and the Claim Center Director requests.

Coordinates training programs with Claim Center trainers in order to maintain consistency in approach, materials, content and communication in all training areas where training is not specific to a jurisdiction, line of business, or location.

Provides guidance in training and outline development for specialized submissions i.e., continuing education credits, claim training for sales, underwriting, etc.

Schedules, attends and participates in “train the trainer” sessions for all claim trainers to enhance coordination and consistency across the function.

Participates in the strategic planning for training and in the development of new training concepts and materials for corporate programs.

Presents corporate training programs at individual claim centers as needed and requested.

Communicates with Corporate Training and claim center trainers relative to training needs, program feedback, successful local ideas, materials and speakers in order to improve the overall claim training available.

Coordinates and assists in conducting, to the extent needed, any local training developed, presented and required by Corporate Training, including but not limited to, making location and travel arrangements, packaging materials, tracking participants, etc.

Provides remedial training in claim centers as deemed necessary.


Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.

5-8 years of related work experience.

Previous experience in the property and casualty insurance industry required.

Technical knowledge of Auto insurance claims.

Experience as an Auto Adjuster is preferred.

Knowledge of training methods, software and processes, along with previous training experience.

Strong organizational, communication, human relations and motivational skills.

Degree in communication, education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
