Must have completed a licensed truck driver training program. Must possess a valid CDL license. Must be in compliance with all other DOT requirements. Must be able to complete log book requirements and all other assigned necessary paperwork. Must be able to read and interpret mathematical measurements of glass sizes and be able to effectively use a tape measure. Able to read schedules and case tags. Be able to interpret best ways to load and deliver glass. Good customer relations and people skills. A minimum of two years driving a tractor and semi-trailer or a straight truck. Clean driving record over the last three years with no tickets or accidents. No major traffic violations on driving record.


This position involves hauling glass shipments to local and out-of-state customers with company assigned vehicles, either tractor and semi-trailer or straight truck; loading and unloading boxed glass with cranes, booms, or hoists into trucks; frequent loading loose glass by hand and with suction cups. Limitations on glass one person can carry is 75 lbs. and 150 lbs. for two people (without suction cups).


This position requires that objects including glass be moved from one position/location to another in an effort to expedite the glass/object throughout the plant. Muscular and cardiovascular endurance are required, along with upper and lower body manipulation functions in order to perform functions required for glass handling such as frequent bending, twisting, and reaching motions. Tight gripping, cupping, and wrist motions are required to support, carry, and maneuver up to 75 lbs. of objects/glass to platform heights of 3 feet in a manner considered safe for self and others. The platforms may entail on-loading and off-loading of glass, iron tables, rolling racks, A-frames and glass racks. Mental endurance is required as some internal stress is created resulting from accelerated paced activities that are required in order to meet customer demands and promised delivery schedules. Ability to handle varying road, traffic and weather conditions is mandatory.

Be able to handle all types of weather, traffic, and road conditions. The shop floor working environment is subject to unusually warm temperatures during the summer months due to the heat generated by the glass tempering furnaces. Normal climate conditions of the region will also be present such as humidity. Glass cleaning materials can create some odors in the plant, as well as sealant used in fabricating insulating glass units. While the odors are within acceptable levels, they nevertheless, can be smelled. Dust, pollen and other typical airborne particulate matter are also present within the atmosphere of the shop floor.
