Clerk IV
The Accounts Payable Clerk IV coordinates payments to vendors for goods and/or services which can include professional medical services, Foster Grandparent Stipends, Foster Grandparent Transportation, Client Payroll, petty cash vouchers, procurement card vouchers and any other payments which need to be made to assure the accuracy and timeliness of those payments. The Accounts Payable Clerk IV works with vendors to reconcile differences and problems that present themselves from time to time. This position works closely with the Contracting and Materials Management Departments statewide. This position is also responsible for periodic corrections to the general ledger through the HHSAS Accounts Payable system and the General Ledger. The Accounts Payable Clerk IV position will support any of the facilities which the Abilene State School Regional Accounting office is responsible for. Performs related duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Process payments including Interfacility/Interagency vouchers for supplies and services. All types of payments are included. (70%)
2. Reconciling account statements from vendors including the procurement card statements to purchases made within the billing cycle per the departmental procurement logs. (10%)
3. Working closely with Enterprise Contract and Procurement Services (ECPS) and vendors for receiving and reconciling related issues. (5%)
4. Make corrections to the General Ledger through the Accounts Payable System or General Ledger; (5%)
5. Inventories as required by Agency/Facility Policy and Procedures. (5%)
6. Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Good communication skills both orally and in writing.
Experience using office equipment such as a personal computer and a calculator by touch.
Working knowledge of window based applications including Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
Extensive knowledge of Accounts Payable and reconciling accounts.
Attention to details.
Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
Ability to make arithmetic computation.
Ability to work with others and maintain effective working relationship.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. May require valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.

Initial Selection Criteria:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in accounting is preferred. Prefer two years extensive experience in Accounts Payable in a high volume setting. Experience in accounting/bookkeeping and education may substitute one year for one year. Experience reconciling accounts. Skill in using a personal computer and office equipment including a calculator by touch. Working knowledge and experience with Excel, Outlook and Word.

Additional Information:

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.

Starting Salary $2094.33
