Duties: Essential Job Duties: This position is responsible for providing a full range of clerical support to the Chairperson and faculty of the Department of Health and Nutrition. Duties include: assists undergraduate and graduate students by providing general information, direction, and serves as a student/faculty liaison; serves as initial contact and central resource person for the Departments; covers telephone for Department Chairs and faculty; receives and directs visitors to the Department; receives and resolves complaints or directs to proper individual for resolution; distributes message to faculty and students; receives and sends FAX correspondence; distributes mail to faculty, opens and reads departmental correspondence; records and transcribes minutes of Departmental meetings; works independently and sets work priorities with input from the Chairs; manages room bookings, moving requests, custodial requests and travel arrangements; coordinates the annual Departmental retreats; coordinates MPH poster sessions three times per year with guidance from the Chair and Director of the MPH program; employs multiple software applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft, E-mail, Internet, Contribute, SAP, R-25 and others as warranted; supports faculty in data capture and maintains programmatic databases associated with advising, assessment and accreditation; inputs master schedule for all undergraduate and graduate courses; submits and track Procurement Disbursement Requests; assist the Chairs in budgetary oversight and management; manages special projects; inputs work orders for the Departments; maintains student records; assists Chairs and faculty with preparation of faculty evaluations; oversees work flow for graduate assistants and work study students; attends relevant technology workshops and training sessions; supports faculty searches; serves as timekeeper and maintains office files. The filling of this position is contingent upon available funding.

Selection Criteria: Selection Criteria: Minimum Education & Training:
  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum or
  • Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities

    Skills: Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling & punctuation
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions which explain multifaceted procedures
  • Ability to compose straightforward, informational correspondence
  • Ability to pass 40 wpm typing test
