Job Purpose (Job Summary):
Invesco’s Investment Services Senior Client Portfolio Manager (SCPM) structure is very much aligned with the Invesco goal of having an investment-oriented culture that is focused on our clients. The objective of the SCPM is to represent our portfolio management teams in business related matters, thereby allowing the PMs to focus more of their efforts towards managing our client’s assets.

The Senior Client Portfolio Manager is the portfolio liaison for clients, advisors, consultants, portfolio administrators, regional marketing staff, home office gatekeepers/analysts, and Invesco’s sales and marketing team.

In this role, the Senior Client Portfolio Manager is responsible for coordination and delivery of investment servicing required for asset development and retention for

clients across all Invesco distribution channels worldwide.

This is a highly visible role within the company and is critical to Invesco’s success.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Interact effectively with clients:
§

Credibility – A SCPM must have a high degree of credibility within the Firm and its customers. This accomplished by effectively representing the investment teams to our sales professionals and clients throughout all Invesco distribution channels worldwide.

A will to engage and a will to win are essential.

Responsible for marketing presentations to Invesco’s retail and institutional clients worldwide.

·

Monitors and analyzes characteristics of each portfolio to understand alpha generation factors and viability in the current market environment for each distribution channel as applicable.

Maintains market awareness by continually exchanging information on business trends and company developments with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Traders.

Communication - A SCPM must be an exceptional communicator.

Each SCPM functions as the liaison between the sales force and the portfolio management teams.

The goal is to ensure that the team’s investment philosophy and process are effectively and correctly represented to Invesco’ clients.

SCPMs are expected to cover the majority of client meetings, thereby allowing portfolio managers to stay focused on managing the portfolios.

·

Invesco puts high priority on doing what is best for clients.

Making sure that sales representatives and clients are selling the products for the right reasons and how they fit into a diversified investment portfolio is paramount.

·

Business Management Functions

  • working in conjunction with PM’s, Product Managers, Sales & Marketing, Legal & Compliance and many other departments, the SCPM is responsible for managing the various business-related functions of the investment teams.

SCPMs have significant input with respect to the marketing plans for their respective investment disciplines.

·

SCPM’s are responsible for ensuring relevant investment insights of the portfolio management team are delivered internally and externally in a timely and effective manner.

·

Each SCPM is partnered with one or more Product Managers and, together, they manage the message of the investment teams which includes presentation materials, market data research and competitive analysis.

SCPMs and product managers are responsible for assuring data integrity.

SCPMs play a critical editorial role in preparing RFPs and RFIs prior to release.

·

Responsible for developing and implementing an annual business plan for increasing the visibility, sales and assets for assigned portfolios.

·

Responsible for understanding and contributing to the business intelligence, portfolio strategy, product development, investment risk, pricing/fee, market trends, product strengths, related to assigned portfolios.

Maintains market awareness by continually exchanging information on business trends and company developments with sales management and sales force

Serve as Advisor to the Portfolio Managers

·

It is critical that the SCPM earn the respect and trust of the investment teams in order to provide meaningful counsel on business-related matters, including when to engage PMs with clients. As one of the team’s primary contacts in the field, experience, judgment and creativity all play important parts in accomplishing this responsibility.

Investment Services SCPM’s average 20+ years of financial services industry experience.

Most Investment Services SCPMs have been active portfolio managers earlier in their careers.

This level of experience provides the judgment that is essential to successfully executing the Investment Services SCPM role at Invesco.

Independence - From a corporate structure standpoint, Investment Services SCPM’s do not report up through Invesco’s Sales or Investment Departments.

Rather, SCPM's are part of the Product Strategy and Investment Services Department (PSIS).

Such a reporting structure allows Investment Services’ SCPMs to maintain an independent and more objective approach to assisting the Firm’s clients.

This structure also fosters a beneficial team-oriented mindset.

Overview of International/Global EQV Complex

This SCPM position is to primarily represent the International/Global EQV Complex.

14 member investment team led by CIO Clas Olsson.

$23+ billion AUM.

Invesco EQV team is among the most respected in the industry and a flagship team within Invesco.

Qualifications

Work Experience / Knowledge:
15 or more years of experience in the financial services industry required; prior experience within assigned asset classes is required.

Invesco is looking for a seasoned investment professional to fill this role.

Prior portfolio management experience is highly desired.

Prior International/Global experience is highly desired.

Institutional and proven due-diligence “Finals” experience essential.

Will to engage and win is essential.

Strong work ethic & attention to detail are essential.

Candidate must be able to work independently with limited day to day direction. Must also be flexible and have the ability to work with a great variety of personalities and levels of expertise.

Formal Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is required.

License/Registration/Certification:
FINRA Series 7 will be required within 120 days of employment.

Strong preference for a CFA, MBA or other similar technical designation or degree

Working Conditions:
Position will be located in either Houston, Tx or Austin, Tx.

Travel – travel can fluctuate greatly, alternating between periods of heavy travel and little travel.

Overall the position will require travel 25 - 50% of the time.

Primarily in the U.S., but possibly also Canada & Europe).

Skills:
·

Investment management experience or strong understanding of financial markets, investment concepts, styles and issues; must be able to communicate effectively on investment issues.

·

Prior investment management experience is preferred.

·

Knowledge across diverse distribution channels in which Invesco products are sold. Institutional, retail, and consultant channel experience is preferred.

Understanding of various distribution and client servicing models including retail and institutional is preferred.

·

Strong written communication and oral presentation skills

·

Must possess strong analytical skills and have the ability to communicate financial, investment and international markets principles and trends

·

Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with all departments and organizational levels

·

Self-directed; must be comfortable with establishing objectives, then working independently to achieve them, seeking manager’s input as needed

·

Must exhibit appropriate software knowledge in windows-based applications. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, Power Point, and remote computer equipment
